On the 26th March 2010 at 21:30 the Cheonan broke in half and sank approximately 1 nautical mile Southwest of Baengnyeong Island, s just below the Northern Limit Line. Just five minutes earlier at 21:25 an explosion was reported by the ship’s crew. Of the 104 crew on board, 46 were killed.
