North Korea holds post-congress military parade with no weapons procession

Kim Jong Un delivers speech warning enemies of ‘immediate’ retaliatory strikes if sovereignty violated

North Korea held a military parade on Wednesday night featuring over 14,000 troops but no procession of nuclear missiles or other weapons, according to state media, following the conclusion of the Ninth Party Congress earlier in the day.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Thursday that leader Kim Jong Un delivered a speech at the event warning enemies and stressing the importance of “absolute” loyalty and obedience among troops.

“Our military will immediately launch devastating retaliatory strikes against any military hostile act by any force that violates the sovereignty and security interests of our country,” he said.
