North Korean leader Kim Jong Un kicked off the 2025 end-of-year party plenum in Pyongyang on Tuesday to discuss plans for the upcoming Party Congress, according to state media.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) released a brief six-line report Wednesday stating that the plenum began and that it would also cover economic and ideological issues.

It is the 13th plenum to be held since the Eighth Party Congress in Jan. 2021.

State media has yet to announce the schedule for the Ninth Party Congress, planned for early 2026, but is expected to do so in coverage of this
