Seoul’s spy agency reportedly suspends radio, TV broadcasts into North Korea

Experts say move, if confirmed, would cut off another key source of outside information for the DPRK people

South Korea’s spy agency suspended all of its radio and TV broadcasts targeting North Korea earlier this month after decades of operation, according to an NGO that also broadcasts into the country, potentially cutting off another avenue for transmitting uncensored information to the DPRK people.

Lee Kwang-baek, president of Seoul-based nonprofit Unification Media Group, told NK News on Monday that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) halted five radio channels and one TV channel broadcasting in early July, citing peace activists who monitor the broadcasts.
