Seoul backs UN concerns over North Korea’s treatment of soldiers, defectors

South Korea urges DPRK’s compliance with international law following special envoy’s report on human rights violations

South Korea has raised concerns about North Korea’s treatment of soldiers and protections for DPRK prisoners of war captured by Ukraine, expressing support for the latest recommendations by the U.N. special envoy on North Korean human rights.

Song Si-jin, deputy permanent representative of South Korea to the U.N. in Geneva, backed the report by Elizabeth Salmon following a meeting with the special rapporteur on Wednesday, according to Seoul’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
