Trump talks North Korean deaths in Ukraine for first time as US, Russia meet

Washington, Moscow initiate peace talks as Kyiv says it successfully destroyed DPRK artillery system in ongoing conflict

Large numbers of North Korean soldiers have been killed in “senseless” war against Ukraine, President Donald Trump said in his first mention of DPRK troops since taking office, voicing support for ending the conflict as top U.S. and Russian diplomats held their first talks on the Ukraine peace process.

Trump called it “ridiculous” that Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are being killed “by the thousands on a weekly basis” while signing executive orders on Tuesday, adding that “a lot of [North] Koreans have been killed” as well.
