FAO and UNICEF win sanctions exemptions to deliver $163K in aid to North Korea

Assistance is aimed at improving agricultural production and providing clean water as humanitarian staff remain shut out

The U.N. has granted new sanctions exemptions for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and UNICEF to deliver aid to North Korea, which is aimed at improving farm output and supplies of drinking water.

The FAO and UNICEF will have until Dec. 3 and Dec. 20, 2025, respectively, to send the aid to the DPRK, according to the exemption notices from the U.N. Security Council’s (UNSC) 1718 Sanctions Committee.
