Pentagon says it cannot confirm North Korean troops in active combat in Ukraine

Remarks contradict claims by US State Department and Kyiv, which says DPRK soldiers have suffered casualties

The U.S. Department of Defense says it has yet to confirm North Korean troops’ involvement in active combat in the Ukraine war, seemingly contradicting other statements from Washington and claims from the Ukrainian president earlier this week.

“Largely speaking, so far, we’ve not seen the DPRK engaging in offensive combat operations, although we do expect at a certain point in time that that will very likely happen,” Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said during a press briefing on Monday.
