North Korea to resume train service with Russia next week after 5-year hiatus

Passenger trains will run between Tumangang and Russia’s Khasan three times a week as two sides push to boost tourism

North Korea is set to fully resume its passenger rail service with Russia after a five-year hiatus next week, Russia’s railways operator has announced, following several trial runs since last summer.

Train No. 645/646 running between North Korea’s Tumangang station and the Russian border town of Khasan will resume its service on Dec. 16, Russian Railways said on Telegram on Tuesday, updating its train schedule for the 2024-2027 period.
