North Korea will convene a major party meeting in late December to review the year’s progress and chart a path forward in the new year, with leader Kim Jong Un expected to give a speech that could deliver messages to the U.S. and South Korea ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday that the Workers’ Party of Korea’s Central Committee will hold the plenary meeting to “sum up the execution of the Party and state policies in 2024, to decide the orientation of struggle for 2025 and discuss and decide a series of important issues arising in achieving overall development of socialist construction.”
