The U.S., South Korea and Japan conducted a joint aerial drill featuring a U.S. B-1B strategic bomber over the weekend, in a show of force responding to North Korea’s launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
The B-1B bomber participated in the exercise in the overlapping air defense identification zones of South Korea and Japan east of Jeju Island on Sunday, accompanied by a multinational escort of South Korean F-15K and KF-16 fighters, U.S. F-16s and Japanese F-2 aircraft, the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a press release.
