South Korea and the U.S. carried out a joint live-fire drone exercise for the first time ever as part of efforts to enhance aerial deterrence with new capabilities, just a day after North Korea tested its largest-ever solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
The drill, featuring a South Korean RQ-4B Global Hawk high-altitude reconnaissance drone and a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper combat drone, was aimed at simulating a strike on a “virtual provocation point,” the ROK air force announced in a press release on Friday.
