North Korea says it tested new ‘Hwasong-19’ ICBM, largest solid-fuel missile yet

Leader Kim Jong Un hails 'absolutely irreversible' nuclear weapons program after successful launch on Thursday

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) called the “Hwasong-19” on Thursday, according to state media, hailing his nuclear weapons program as “absolutely irreversible.”

Kim said the solid-fuel Hwasong-19 is a “final edition” ICBM that will operate alongside the similar but smaller Hwasong-18 “as the primary core weapon for defending the DPRK, thoroughly deterring acts of aggression and reliably safeguarding national security,” the Rodong Sinmun reported on Friday.
