Mysterious TV networks seek to penetrate North Korea’s information firewall

NK News identified three channels broadcasting content across the border that appears tailormade for DPRK audiences

Along the razor-wired boundary between the two Koreas, an invisible battle plays out through the air. While North Korean authorities work to control information reaching their citizens, antennas from South Korea transmit TV programming northward.

An NK News investigation has identified at least three channels that broadcast content ranging from variety shows to documentaries about human rights to glimpses of everyday life in Seoul, as well as Russia’s war in Ukraine, into the DPRK.
