Berlin embassy was at center of procurement efforts during Cold War, relying on tactics the DPRK still uses today

The North Korean Embassy in Berlin has been the site of sanctions evasion controversy in recent years, hosting a hostel found to have breached sanctions by paying rent of 38,000 euros a month to the DPRK government. 

Less prominent was the allegation made by the head of Germany's intelligence agency in 2018 that the embassy continues to play a role in technology procurement for the DPRK’s missile program.
