State media shows students repeating after panda protagonist of Hollywood animation, despite crackdowns on foreign media

A North Korean elementary school has used the Hollywood blockbuster animation “Kung Fu Panda” to teach English to young students, NK News analysis of state media has found, despite the Kim regime’s escalating crackdown on the consumption of foreign media.

Footage that aired on Korean Central Television (KCTV) on Sunday showed students at Munsin Primary School in Pyongyang watching a scene from the 2008 comedy film about a plump panda who learns martial arts, repeating after the main character Po when he says “nothing.”
