North Korean special forces don new laser tag tech for military exercise

Expert says system for simulating combat appears ‘very basic’ and may have been produced from foreign designs

North Korean special forces donned new laser tag-style gear for a training exercise this week, state media has revealed, adopting technology long used by foreign militaries amid a push to improve the capabilities of top-tier combat units.

The party daily Rodong Sinmun and Korean Central News Agency reported on Friday that Kim Jong Un inspected special operations forces earlier this week, calling them "the pivotal core" of the country’s "war deterrence and warfighting capabilities.”
