North Korea simulates attack on island ahead of maritime border announcement

Artillery drill led by Kim Jong Un comes as DPRK expected to revise how it defines inter-Korean boundary in Yellow Sea

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw artillery drills simulating an attack on an enemy island in recent days, ahead of an expected announcement in state media this week on a change to the country’s definition of the inter-Korean maritime boundary in the Yellow Sea.

Kim also visited one of the 20 new rural factory construction sites scheduled for completion by the end of this year, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday, complimenting the rare success amid failures at other locations.
