North Korea launches third round of trash balloons this week, 27th this year

Latest barrage comes as DPRK severs inter-Korean links and fortifies border as ‘self-defensive measure’

North Korea has launched its third round of trash balloons this week, the South Korean military announced Friday morning, the latest barrage in a monthslong psychological warfare campaign.

“Currently, there is a possibility that the North Korean garbage balloons will move to the northern part of Gyeonggi Province and the metropolitan area in the case of wind direction Goryeo,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) warned in a statement at 5 a.m.
