Seoul ‘closely monitoring’ signs North Korea executed officials over flooding

Statement follows report that Kim Jong Un put 20-30 officials to death, though experts express skepticism over claims

Seoul is “closely monitoring” signs that North Korea executed several high-ranking officials, holding them responsible for devastating flood damage in late July, the National Intelligence Services (NIS) told NK News on Wednesday.

The statement came after South Korean broadcaster TV Chosun reported on Tuesday that the DPRK executed “20 to 30 officials at the same time” in late August over the flood damage, citing an unnamed ROK government source.
