Rare video exposes North Korea’s brutal crackdown on teens who watch K-dramas

Footage of forced confessions reveals focus on women and youth, along with push to shame family members of accused

Newly published video of North Korean authorities handcuffing teenagers and forcing them to confess to consuming South Korean music and dramas has vividly exposed the Kim regime’s crackdown on outside media, and its blatant violation of its citizens’ rights.

The footage captured during the pandemic and released in part by KBS suggests that the DPRK state is focusing in particular on youth and women, publicizing their personal details and seeking to punish even their family members for their alleged crimes.
