North Korea renames subway station, purging reference to reunification

Photos show Tongil Station is now called Moranbong Station, after Kim Jong Un abandoned goal of unifying with South

North Korea has officially renamed a subway station in central Pyongyang that referenced the idea of a reunified Korean Peninsula, the latest effort to purge language about reunification in line with leader Kim Jong Un’s new policy toward the South.

The former Tongil Station (or Reunification Station, 통일역) is now called Moranbong Station, photos taken by Russian tourists show, suggesting that the renaming likely occurred between late July and late August.
