Kim Jong Un orders construction of new navy base for ‘large, modern’ vessels

North Korea continues expanding facilities and assets to increase warfighting capabilities in maritime domain

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected a site for a new naval base, revealing plans to construct a navy port capable of operating “large, modern surface and underwater vessels”  to “accelerate war preparedness,” state media revealed on Sunday. 

Sunday’s Rodong Sinmun also revealed that Kim visited a navy shipbuilding facility, an arms factory and an artillery officers training school.
