Fact check: Russia greenlit imports of beer from China, not North Korea

NK News analysis shows Russian records likely misidentified supplier reported by media due to spelling error

Russia issued a license for a local company to import beer from China, not North Korea, contrary to reports in Russian and South Korean media.

The Russian business daily RBC reported on Tuesday that a company called Vostokbeertrade from the Far Eastern city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur received permission to import North Korean beer, citing the RusAccreditation government agency in charge of certifying goods.
