U.S. President Joe Biden has nominated a senior Army officer with leadership experience in Iraq and the U.S. to take charge of the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK), the military command stationed in South Korea to deter and defend against North Korean attacks.
The Pentagon announced in a press release on Wednesday that Army Lt. Gen. Xavier T. Brunson has been nominated as the commander of the USFK, U.N. Command (UNC) and Combined Forces Command (CFC) with a promotion to the rank of general.
