Why recent assassination attempts may have Kim Jong Un worried for his safety

North Korean leader appears to be bolstering security, possibly due to perceived threats from US and ROK amid tensions

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un appears to have bolstered security at public events this year, according to NK News analysis of state media, a precaution experts said may be a response to perceived threats from external enemies and recent assassination attempts on politicians around the world.

While the DPRK leader has always traveled with security to protect him, Korean Central Television (KCTV) footage and images published in state media since April suggest that he has expanded his use of bodyguards, increased the size of his vehicle convoys and utilized other security measures like metal detectors and apparent sniffer dogs.
