North Korea says it tested new tactical missile variant at two different ranges

Short-range ballistic missile with ‘super-large warhead’ may have hit inland target as another test planned for July

North Korea successfully tested a new short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) variant with improved warhead capacity on Monday at the long and short ends of its range, according to state media, with one possibly striking an inland target.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Tuesday that the Missile Administration carried out tests of the “Hwasong-11C-4.5” SRBM, stating it can carry a 4.5-ton warhead.
