EU sanctions Russian container firm for helping transport North Korean arms

Brussels alleges TransContainer and CEO participated in ‘illegal weapons trade’ to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

The European Union has slapped sanctions on Russia’s largest railway container operator for allegedly facilitating munitions transfers from North Korea for use against Ukraine.

The sanctions on PJSC TransContainer are for its participation in “illegal weapon trade schemes with the DPRK in support of the Russian government,” the European Council stated last Friday, announcing its 14th package of sanctions against Moscow.
