US B-1B drops bombs in joint drills with South Korea for first time in 7 years

Show of force toward North Korea with precision bombs comes amid heightened border tensions after DPRK balloon launches

A U.S. B-1B strategic bomber joined joint air drills with South Korea on Wednesday and dropped precision bombs on simulated targets for the first time in seven years, in a show of force toward North Korea amid elevated tensions.

The training comes shortly after the DPRK launched 1,000 balloons carrying trash and manure into South Korea and Seoul completely suspended an inter-Korean military deal in response, vowing to resume drills and all other military activity near the border.
