South Korea and Japan announced new sanctions against North Korean and Russian targets on Friday, expanding on recent multinational efforts by the U.S. and its allies to crack down on activities supporting Moscow’s war against Ukraine and Pyongyang’s weapons development.
Friday’s announcements preceded a summit between the South Korean and Japanese leaders in Seoul on Sunday, in which the two countries could look to step up regional cooperation against the DPRK’s military activities, as well as a trilateral summit involving China starting the same day.
