Launch comes after leader Kim Jong Un observed a live-fire test of new precision rockets last week

North Korea has fired suspected short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan), South Korea’s military announced on Friday afternoon.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a press release that at approximately 3:10 p.m. KST, it detected multiple projectiles “presumed to be short-range ballistic missiles” launched from Wonsan on North Korea’s east coast.
