North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered local police to “fiercely fight” anything that infringes upon the regime’s socialist system, joining a group photo session in Pyongyang with thousands of police station chiefs from around the country on Sunday.
Kim’s message to attendees at the Fifth National Conference of Heads of Branch Public Security Stations came as he has repeatedly called for fighting foreign influence and clamping down on “anti-socialist” behavior, underscoring his deep interest in using the tools of the state to assert social control.
