North Korean soccer star lands at DPRK club after sanctions derail Europe career

Pro-regime outlet reports Han Kwang Song now on top April 25 team, and expert says he’s unlikely to play overseas again

North Korean soccer star Han Kwang Song is now playing for the DPRK’s top club side in Pyongyang, after international sanctions derailed his promising career in Europe.

The Choson Sinbo, a pro-DPRK outlet in Japan with close ties to the regime, reported last Tuesday that the 25-year-old Han is “currently trying to regain top form” playing for the April 25 Sports Club’s men’s team in the DPRK Premier Football League.
