North Korean state television aired a recent inter-Korean women’s soccer match over the weekend, notably referring to the South by its official name the Republic of Korea amid a shakeup in the DPRK’s policy toward its southern neighbor.
The DPRK under-20 women’s team defeated South Korea by the score of 3-0 in the semifinal match of the 2024 AFC U-20 Women's Soccer Asian Cup on March 13, and the Korean Central Television (KCTV) broadcast the game on Sunday, referring to the teams as Joson (조선) and Republic of Korea (한국), respectively.
