North Korea threatens ‘ruthless punishment’ after first-ever US-ROK cyber drills

Pyongyang’s official news agency frames landmark exercise as part of US-led ‘war provocation moves’ to end Kim regime

North Korea condemned a landmark joint cyber exercise between the U.S. and South Korea as preparation for war and warned that any conflict would result in “ruthless punishment.”

“This training, staged for the first time under the pretext of ‘beefing up the system for cyber cooperation,’ was aimed at getting familiar with cyber war,” the state-owned Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said in a commentary Sunday.
