North Korea fires short-range ballistic missile in late-night launch: Seoul

Missile launch into East Sea comes hours after US nuclear submarine arrives in Busan

North Korea fired one suspected short-range ballistic missile toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Sunday night, South Korea’s military announced.

Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it detected the launch from Pyongyang around 10:38 p.m. KST and is sharing information on the missile with the U.S. and Japan.
