Chinese company sold purported North Korean seafood at popular market: UN report

Information provided to Panel of Experts suggests sanctions violation, though China says it was just false advertising

A Chinese company has sold seafood labeled as from North Korea at a popular market near the two countries’ border, according to information in a new U.N. report, though Beijing denied that the vendor violated sanctions banning the import of such products.

A member state told the U.N. Panel of Experts overseeing DPRK sanctions that North Korean Seafood Wholesale (北朝鲜海鲜批发) sold DPRK seafood at Yanji West Market in China’s Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, according to the Panel’s latest report.
