Large-scale maritime drill in Yellow Sea is ‘essential’ to address emerging threats, expert says

The U.S. and South Korea are conducting joint military exercises on “neutralizing” North Korean operations against border islands in the Yellow Sea, the ROK navy announced on Thursday.

The large-scale maritime drill off the coast of Taean started on Tuesday and is part of the annual multi-week “Hoguk Exercise” led by the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), which kicked off earlier this month.
