Several North Koreans in ROK custody after crossing sea border by boat: Seoul

Several presumed North Korean escapees are in South Korean custody after they entered waters off the east coast in a small wooden boat on Tuesday, according to Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The individuals are currently under investigation by relevant South Korean authorities, JCS said.

“Our military has been taking operational measures since early morning to prepare for various situations after detecting unusual signs in the sea near the Northern Limit Line in the East Sea,” JCS said in a statement on Tuesday morning.
