North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is headed to Russia with top military officials for his first trip outside the country since 2019, state media reported on Tuesday, ahead of a possible summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to discuss weapons trade and joint military exercises.
Kim left Pyongyang on Sunday evening in a private train with his defense chief, foreign minister and officials in charge of weapons production and space technology, according to a Rodong Sinmun report and accompanying photos. It did not mention plans to meet Putin.
