South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol appointed scholar Kim Yung-ho as the country’s new unification minister on Friday, despite controversy over his YouTube channel and advocacy for regime change in North Korea.
The appointment coincided with the ministry’s announcement that it will “reshuffle” 80 personnel as part of Yoon’s efforts to deemphasize dialogue and cooperation. Four departments that handle inter-Korean dialogue will be merged into a single unit, according to the ministry.
