The U.S. still wants denuclearization of North Korea, Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins said on Tuesday, appearing to backtrack on remarks last October that implied Washington would instead be willing to discuss arms control.
“We have not given up on denuclearization. We still want North Korea to denuclearize. That has not changed,” said Jenkins at a think tank event in Washington, in an answer she described as “clarifications” of remarks she made on possible arms control talks with North Korea last October.
