More Russian diplomats leave North Korea as country maintains COVID controls

Russian Embassy reports just 21 personnel remain in Pyongyang after more than 3 years without staff rotations

More personnel at the Russian Embassy in North Korea have left the country, the embassy announced on Friday, a sign that a return to border normalization could still be a long way off.

A video posted on the embassy’s Facebook page showed Russian Ambassador Alexander Matsegora bidding farewell to staff at the Pyongyang train station, with at least nine people on the train when it left for Russia.
