The North Korean leader’s powerful sister Kim Yo Jong denounced the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) for holding a meeting on the DPRK’s satellite launch earlier this week, calling it “an insult to and serious distortion of the spirit of the UN Charter” and accusing the global body of acting at Washington’s behest.
“I am very unpleased that the UNSC so often calls to account the DPRK's exercise of its rights as a sovereign state at the request of the U.S., and bitterly condemn and reject it as the most unfair and biased act of interfering in its internal affairs and violating its sovereignty,” she said in a statement released by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday.
