Leading industrial nations renewed calls for North Korea to abstain from nuclear testing and comply with nonproliferation treaties on Monday, emphasizing that the international community will not accept the DPRK as a nuclear state despite its “reckless” nuclear and missile advances.
In a statement released during the ongoing Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers’ meeting in Japan, the bloc’s Non-Proliferation Directors Group urged Pyongyang to sign and ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and adhere to U.N. Security Council resolutions.
