The U.S. has sanctioned a Slovakian national for attempting to facilitate arms sales between North Korea and Russia as it looks to take firm action aimed at countering Pyongyang’s alleged support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated Ashot Mkrtychev for his role in helping Pyongyang supply over two dozen kinds of weapons and munitions to Moscow in exchange for commercial aircraft, raw materials and other commodities, the Treasury Department said in a press release Thursday.
