South Korea has imposed new sanctions targeting North Korea’s satellite development as part of a wider push to curb its “parade of provocations,” Seoul’s foreign ministry announced Tuesday, ahead of North Korea’s expected launch of a reconnaissance satellite later this year.
The ministry’s press release announcing the restrictions also features a watchlist of 77 prohibited items that the DPRK could use to advance its satellite program, including GPS navigation technology, antennae, camera-related equipment, optical payload components and solar panels.
