US indicts Russian for smuggling electronic devices and software to North Korea

Man allegedly gave hazardous gas detector to Russia-based DPRK diplomat and other electronic devices to Moscow, US says

A U.S. federal court has charged a Russian national for illegally supplying electronic devices and software to North Korean and Russian authorities, according to the Justice Department.

Ilya Balakaev allegedly supplied hazardous gas detectors and a manual purchased in the U.S. to the first secretary of the DPRK embassy in Moscow between 2019 and 2020, according to court documents unsealed Friday.
