South Korea will develop a new microsatellite system to monitor North Korean activities and strengthen national security response capabilities by 2030, Seoul’s defense procurement agency said Thursday.
The $1.13 billion (1.42 trillion won) project will span multiple ministries and into the private sector, according to a Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) press release. It will focus on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro optic (EO) microsatellites.
