The missile test is the DPRK’s first since the early hours of Jan. 1 this year. JCS said the missile was fired around 5:22 p.m. KST from Pyongyang’s Sunan area, home to the capital’s international airport. Japan’s defense ministry estimated it flew for around 66 minutes and landed 125 miles (200 km) west of Hokkaido inside the country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ). North Korea fires long-range missile into waters off Japanese coast: Tokyo

North Korea launched one intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the East Sea (Sea of Japan) Saturday evening, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The missile test is the DPRK’s first since the early hours of Jan. 1 this year.
